Pace University uses Duo Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for access to designated applications, which helps to strengthen security measures and mitigate potential system access vulnerabilities.  Over the summer, ITS began asking students to voluntarily enroll in MFA, also known as two-factor authentication (2FA).  This initiative is being implemented as an effort to further protect Pace student accounts, personal data, and systems, and all students will be required to use 2-factor authentication sometime in the fall semester.  A current list of the systems that are being protected by Duo MFA can be viewed at this link: Duo Multifactor Authentication (MFA).

When accessing an MFA-protected Pace system or service, you will be prompted to enter your MyPace Portal username and password, plus an additional 6-digit passcode.  This will help prevent anyone, but you, from accessing your Pace account even if they know your password.  The passcode can be retrieved from the Duo Mobile () app installed on a secondary device in your possession (e.g. smartphone or tablet).  The Duo Mobile app is free and will work with any Apple, Android, or Windows mobile device.  You will be able to download the app from your device’s app store during the setup process.

For a small number of students who currently need access to the Pace Virtual Private Network (Pace VPN), they will need to enroll in Duo MFA now to retain this access.  Once enrolled, MFA will also be required for access to the MyPace Portal, Banner Applications, Citrix Virtual Environment, and RD Gateway.  For all remaining students, Duo MFA enrollment will be required sometime in the fall semester.  A specific fall deadline date will be provided in the future.  We encourage you to self-enroll early, so you will be ready when MFA is enabled for the listed systems.
