On Sunday, March 26, Information Technology Services (ITS) began transitioning Pace systems to the new Duo Universal Prompt for MultiFactor Authentication (MFA). This next-generation authentication prompt has a streamlined interface design with enhanced security features and is being rolled out in phases until all protected Pace systems have been migrated to the new version.
To the right, you can see an image comparison of the two Duo authentication prompts to showcase the different looks.
Some systems have already been switched over, including the MyPace Portal, Degree Works, Bank Mobile, and Banner. The migrations will continue for several months until completion. This means that you may interact with either Duo prompt, depending on the system you’re logging into.
Other main changes between the Traditional and Universal prompts include:
- For systems that use the Universal Prompt, the application’s login screen will include the application name above the username field.
- While the Traditional Prompt loads on an internal Pace webpage, the Universal Prompt momentarily redirects to a duosecurity.com page to complete the verification, and then redirects back to the Pace application.
- The Device dropdown option in the Traditional Prompt will be replaced by a link to select “Other options” in the Universal Prompt.
- The “Remember me…” checkbox option in the Traditional Prompt will be replaced by a confirmation request to “Trust this browser?” in the Universal Prompt. If you check ‘Yes,’ you won’t need to enter a Duo passcode for a predetermined number of days when logging back into the system using the same device and browser. We recommend selecting ‘No’ to this question when using a shared or public device.
