It is important to be alert to scams that may originate from emails, text messages, phone calls, or social media. Some of the latest phishing scams include:
- Fake Job Opportunities
 - Communication threatening action and/or demanding payment
 - Requests to provide Duo passcodes
 - Requests for you to purchase gift cards
 - Fake retail notifications, such as communication appearing to originate from Amazon
 - Requests for sensitive data
 - Fake news attempting to generate an emotional response

What To Look For In Messages:
- Discrepancies in sender’s email address, links, and domain name (i.e., pace.edu)
 - Inconsistent links – hover your mouse over the hyperlinks to view the link address before you click to ensure that it points to a known good site.
 - Attachments that you were not expecting
 - Offers that are too good to be true – most times, they are just that! Large compensations for minimal effort are a prime example of this type of indicator.
 - Sense of urgency
 - QR codes that you are not expecting

What To Do:
- Report suspected spam/phishing emails to iso@pace.edu. You can also use the Report Message button on the toolbar in Outlook.
 - If you’ve inadvertently clicked a link or responded to a spam/phishing email, please contact iso@pace.edu immediately.
 - If you’ve responded via text or other communication channels, discontinue communication and mark the numbers as spam/junk, if available.
