ITS staff is continuing to work with our enterprise resource planning software provider, Ellucian, and the university’s main functional areas to complete the upgrade to Banner 9 in several phases. Over the summer, the Windows database and its content were migrated to a Linux platform and staff then completed integration testing in the new development environment. After successful completion, the teams moved forward with the production environment implementation, testing, and reconnection of available 3rd party products, which was completed on Sunday, August 19th. Currently, functional power users are in the process of training on Banner 9 navigation, features, and functionality, and have begun accessing Banner 9 in the test environment. Training for the general population will be announced at a later date. The front-end interface upgrade is planned for later this fall. As a reminder, below are some highlights of new and improved features:
- New user interface and improved navigation and accessibility
- New administrative pages and reports
- Provide a consistent look and feel across Banner
- Enhanced navigation for a seamless experience
- Eliminate Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports
- Eliminate the need for a Java client on your computer
- End dependency on Internet Explorer and allow for full browser support (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, MS Edge)
