As the fall semester begins, be cautious of email scams and phishing attempts. Don’t fall for their tricks!
Common Signs of Phishing Scams:
- Requests for personal information like email, home address, or phone number.
- Requests for money or gift card purchases.
- Urgent messages urging you to click a link or open an attachment.
Recent Email Phishing Scams:
- Fake academic grants and overdue tuition balance notices.
- Offers to earn extra income by working remotely.
- Part-time job offers or university job placements.
- Fictitious employment offers from organizations like UNICEF or the World Health Organization (WHO).
- Tax return scams.
If you receive a suspicious email, please follow these steps:
- Do Not reply, share info, open attachments, or click links.
- Report by sending the email as an attachment to iso@pace.edu.
- Delete the email from your Inbox and Deleted Items.
