Information Technology Services (ITS) would like to remind community members of the importance of protecting sensitive and confidential personally identifiable information (PII) when using AI platforms.
As part of our commitment to safeguarding the privacy and security of Pace University’s information, we emphasize the need to avoid submitting any sensitive or confidential University information into generative AI platforms.
Please do not submit any sensitive or confidential University information into generative AI platforms.
Examples of such platforms include, but are not limited to:
- ChatGPT
- Google Gemini
- Microsoft Copilot
- Jasper AI
- Anthropic Claude
- Any other AI-based text generation tools
Submitting sensitive or confidential PII data to these platforms can result in unintended exposure and misuse of information, which could have serious consequences for the University and its community.
This includes data such as:
- Social Security numbers
- Financial information
- Health records
- Student records
- Research data
- Any other confidential University information
Please remember that submitting such information violates the University’s Appropriate Use Policy. Adhering to this policy helps maintain the integrity and security of our data and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
By following these guidelines, we can collectively ensure the safety and confidentiality of our University’s information.
