In order to satisfy social distancing requirements for the fall semester, ITS implemented a new mode of instruction named the HyFlex model. In this mode, courses are delivered both in person and remotely at the same time by the same faculty member. Select classrooms on campus have been outfitted with a “Zoom Station” that will allow some students to connect to the class remotely via Zoom, while other students attend the same class in person.  Thus, the faculty member can split a class and teach to both groups at the same time.  This model maximizes the potential for students to participate in a face-to-face course experience while adhering to the guidelines of social distancing.

A website was also created to help support this new initiative. There, you can find more information, as well as a list of Hyflex classrooms, available training (for faculty), plus other frequently asked questions about the new Hyflex model.
